Jim Windle has been an avid outdoorsman since his early days of boating, diving, and fishing in the waters off Sarasota, Florida. He joined the United States Marine Corps between semesters of college, and set out to travel the world. After six years and 7 countries he landed in Charlotte, North Carolina where he’s lived ever since.
In May 2013 he retired from his job as the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s bomb squad commander and arson sergeant. But that hasn’t slowed him down. Nowadays, you can find Jim practicing his catch and release fly fishing skills on the streams of Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee.
Jim is a Master Scuba Diver. First certified in 1983, he was one of the few police officers on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Fire Department dive rescue team. He loves wreck diving, and has toured many shipwrecks along the eastern seaboard and the Caribbean, from Aruba, to North Carolina’s famed “Graveyard of the Atlantic”, to the azure waters of the Florida Keys.
When Jim must be away from the water, he loves riding his Harley Road King, smoking cigars, and meeting up with friends. Jim would like you to follow him and Marc as they make their way around Florida. Join them discovering the sights, sounds, and people encountered along the way!
