Life’s a Picnic

We left Boca around 0830 hrs and anticipated a tailwind. Instead we got mostly a side wind. We made a bee line across Charlotte Harbor. The swells kicked up and the kayaks were acting weird. Wouldn’t track right. Marc almost flipped on two occasions.

We stopped at a place called Jugs for a break and had 12 more miles to do. It was a beater.

Our destination tonight is a small island named Picnic Key. First come, first serve for camp sites. We got the last spot. Lots of other boaters out here to enjoy New Years Eve.

The folks next to us are so nice. They boated over to the mainland and grabbed us some beers so we can celebrate. Mind you, we will not be staying up late.

BTW, kudos to Jason Permenter for tweeting the Jimmy Buffet- perfect!

Happy New Year everyone,

Jim and Marc
