Onward to Lemon Bay

20131224-181733.jpg

There was a chill in the air this morning. Visions of sugar plums and paddle strokes consumed our thoughts. We launched from Turtle Beach and enjoyed a tailwind and moderately calm waters. The temps were warm so we decided not to use our spray skirts. The cockpit just gets too hot when wearing them in these conditions.

The route took us into a canal (channel) that wasn’t too wide. The wake of passing cruisers tested our “stay upright” skills. Marc only got wet once when water from a big wave splashed over the cockpit cowling. Jim just laughed. Not once did he get soaked. Such a lucky dude.

We stopped along a mangrove lined shore and snacked on Baby Ruth candy bars and drank GatorAid to stave off our dehydration. Then back at it.

We worked our way into Lemon Bay and eventually Indian Mound Park our end point this evening.

The charts tell us this was a 26 mile day. Felt good.

Christmas Eve is upon us. All good little boys and girls are in bed by now

Advance Around,

Marc and Jim
