Quick update. Cell and data coverage is spotty so expect delays. Pin Hook camp was the most remote yet. Had to paddle way back to arrive. No see ums out in force.
Paddled to Ecofina, the start of the Big Bend. There we met Gus Bianchi who finished the trail last year. Gus has been giving us lots of info and wanted to join us to paddle the Big Bend again. We said yes!
Gus brought us a complete thanksgiving feast complete with turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, squash casserole and even pecan pie. Wow! So good. He even brought fresh fish he caught kayak fishing. We are frying that up tonight. So fortunate to have folks like him following along and now joining us for the next 6 days.
We left Ecofina and paddled to Rock Island for lunch. Then decided to push on to Spring Warrior fish camp. It’s under new ownership. Wayne and Mary have done a great job here. There’s wifi and great accommodations. The primitive camp site is down the creek a ways but why paddle when you can stop here?
Big day today. Finally got the wind to our back and cruised at about 4 mph all day.
Weather looks good next several days. Gonna take advantage of it.
Thanks for following along. Your emails, tweets, and comments mean a lot. We look forward to checking them whenever we have cell coverage.
