Let the Bodies Heal

20131124-091454.jpg

We decided to take a zero day today for a couple reasons. First, our bodies need some rehab and second, Jim noticed an infected splinter on the sole of his foot. He said its been hurting for the past several days.

Marc did some minor surgery on it yesterday and apparently removed whatever was stuck inside. Better to manage that injury now before venturing into the Big Bend area.

Right now we’re relaxing at the convenience store across the street drinking coffee and eating banana nut muffins.

Wise to know when those days are needed to recoup, regroup, and recharge. I only got a Twitter account so I could follow you there as well, and now my pastor may be following you, since he signed up to follow me. I said I’m just there to follow you 2 guys paddling around Florida! How cool is that!?!?!? Enjoy your day of rest! 🙂

Heads up on the campsites ahead at mile 426: if you skip from Kelly Creek to mile 440 Turtle Creek, thus by-passing the camp at Waccasassa River, don’t try the direct route unless the winds and tides are with you. If you get hung up in the middle of the bay, then you’ll have a long day at 1-mph.

Closer is the site at mile 300, Pinhook. If memory serves me, that’s the site where you land on a very small beach (ha!) after passing under a small bridge. You might paddle the ditch to the site IF the tide is with you, but low tide will drain the ditch and in the morning you will be stuck.
