Magic Day

We are loving the Crooked River. So scenic and serene. Plus the flow was with us! We spotted a bald eagle, too many turtles to count, and of course Kingfishers. They actually give us an escort every day on the river. Cool.

Also spotted our first alligator. Probably 5-6 foot long sunning on a log. It slithered in the water as we approached.

Stopped at the Rock Point primitive camp site to stretch our legs. It was nice. Had a pit toilet and large pavilion.

We slowly paddled on and are camping up river.

The mosquitoes and no-see-ums are out again in force. Built a fire to get some smoke in the air. The ThermaCell helps too.

Clear night. An explosion of stars in the sky. So rewarding.

Not sure about cell coverage in the days ahead. Blog and audio updates may be delayed.

Stay tuned…,,,

I have been anticipating your post and feeling all day that you were going to report seeing your first gator; especially considering where you have been paddling 🙂 it really was just a matter of time. So happy you are having a magic day …. finally … It was almost as good as being there just reading about it. Thanks for sharing your amazing journey with us … Paddle on
