Planning Frenzy!

It’s coming down to the wire.  Jim and I are in the final stages of laying out all our gear.  The biggest question is what our clothing options are.  We know the air and water temps at the beginning and end of the voyage will be chilly so making sure we have appropriate paddling layers is a tough decision.   There should be some opportunities to swap gear out along the way, which will help.

BTW, Jim spent some time down in the Sarasota, FL area this past week.  He rented a yak and did a 7.5 mile paddle.  Great R&D for him.

Check out the “Track Us” page to see where he went. (This track will disappear after the official launch).

Oh, here’s a pic he took.

Current conditions in the Gulf of Mexico. Can't wait!

  1. Warren you continue to amaze! Good gracious, if we ever meet I’m buying you a deluxe fish platter and a cold beer! I’ll check out Spotwalla for sure. So much to do, so little time….

Regarding the ‘track us’ page. Take a quick look at the Spotwalla page. The site supports data from several different devices, not just the SPOT. It does not have the 7-day limit that the SPOT pages have. And the data stays there (probably forever) so there’s no hurry to gather the info after the trip. Spotwalla is free and it takes ten minutes to set it up. Similarly, don’t forget to send yourself your photos and any gps data whenever you can find a library – if something goes broke or missing, at least all won’t be lost. On the A.T. people swap sd cards and mail photos home rather than risk all.
